Get Closer is the eleventh studio album by singer Linda Ronstadt, released in 1982. With her previous album, Mad Love, in 1980, Ronstadt's career took a turn away from the country-rock style she'd succeeded with for more than a decade. In 1980–81, she sang light opera on Broadway in The Pirates of Penzance, and during production of the play in New York she expressed a desire to record an album of standards. In 1981, she recorded a session with producer Jerry Wexler and a small jazz combo for a planned album titled Keeping Out of Mischief, but Ronstadt was dissatisfied with the results and cancelled its release.
