Dissection fue una banda sueca de black metal y death metal fundada en 1989 por el vocalista y guitarrista Jon Nödtveidt y el bajista Peter Palmdahl, en Strömstad. Para completar su formación se unieron al grupo el batería Ole Öhman y el guitarrista John Zwetsloot. Su exitoso debut, The Somberlain fue editado en 1993.
